Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

It seems that a lot of what used to be on mailing lists, espeically those
that welecomed the less experienced, has been replaced by forums.

Both the Ubuntu forums and linuxquestions are welcoming of newcomers and
quite active.

Thanks, Gene.

I don't see the Groups.io as being a developed site yet for Linux groups.  I know Yahoo groups from my experience as a ham radio operator, and membership in Yahoo Ham groups.  I cannot seem to surf thru the Groups.io well to find what I am looking for.  Maybe that is simply inexperience with that site.  Again, I would welcome anybody's assistance here in Yahoo Group to assist me in this request.

My impression is that groups.io is not a Yahoo
Group--indeed some of the thinkers on a very
different (not Linux) group, assuming the worst,
have set up an alternate group on groups.io; it
is on a standby rather than on an active basis,
so is there just "in case."

Other Yahoo groups may have also done that.

The Yahoo group for Ubuntu seems more active than Newbies. Also, Chad on Groups.io has both Linux and Windows users.

I signed into Groups.io, and made an account.  But the instructions are a bit vague on how to move any of my groups to it.  Any assistance?

Thanks in advance,

Groups.io entered into a browser URL line will take you to the home page. The website functions much like the older Groups.Yahoo.com

Forgive me, since I come from the older hardware side of things, I look at the BIOS or the newer versions of it to be sure stuff can safely boot up on either drive. For myself, I prefer separate computers, either Win/Lin or Lin/Lin, so I can look up answers if something goes boots-up.

By the way, I see promising Linux groups starting up or transferring to Groups.io

Please accept my apology in advance if this has been answered already.  This is my first time posting to this group.  I have read the FAQ's, and perused the Linux Installation How To, but still have questions.

I have a Dell Latitude Rugged with a 500 GB SSD, 16G Ram, and Win 7.  I cannot risk partitioning, because this laptop is my bread and butter as a self-employed PLC programmer.  So I purchased a second 500 GB SSD drive to start learning and using Linux on.  The SSD drives are quickly replaceable by simply pulling out, and re-plugging the new one in, making the change simple and fast.

My problem is that almost all documentation I read is directed to partitioning drives to run Linux.  I want to simply install Linux on a new clean SSD drive in order to keep Windows and Linux completely separate.  My PLC programming software will only run on Windows.  Would somebody direct me to information that will teach me to safely install Linux on the second replaceable internal SSD drive I have purchased?

I wish to learn Linux using Ubuntu at first maybe, and progress to Kali afterwards, so that I can begin providing security support to manufacturing facilities that may be vulnerable to hacking of their PLC control systems.

Thanks in advance to anybody that will assist.

Rod
