As a Linux/Unix newbie, for sometime now I've been thinking about installing Linux to my 2nd computer -running XP. (I was inspired by using unix in puddytel). After looking around the internet and deciding which version of Linux to get, I got confused.
Just yesterday I was at Barnes & Noble and I was browsing through different computer magazines and I came across a magazine called "Linux Starter Kit with Ubuntu 9.04". VOL3 #2 I then purchased it.
After getting home, I read though the magazine and tried to follow the instructions to install the software to my 2nd computer running XP. The Linux Ubuntu 9.04 installation was successful. I now have two OS's on my 2nd computer.
At this point I am exploring the new OS, but one thing I want to do is get on the internet with it. The computer has an internal modem and I use dial-up. I do not care to download email with it at this time. I just need internet connection with it for now.
Also, other then the magazine I bought which was quite expensive, is their a good magazine for newbies that I should subscribe to?
Thank you
Jack R.
