The key to resolving boot issues with Linux is to get out of graphical boot
mode into text mode so that you can watch the loading process to see what is
causing the problem.
You can usually do that by editing the boot loader to remove the word
"quiet".

There should be a similar way to do it in openSuSE. I don't think that
openSuSe is the best distro for a new user. I have found that it gets
unstable over time due to the way that it resolves dependency conflicts. It
is okay if you know what you are doing, but it makes newbies make decisions
that they don't know how to resolve. One misstep and your system can become
unstable and even crash.
