Actually ANY Ubuntu or Debian program will work on Mint.

I sure don't know what you mean here. I can't remember the last
time I had a Linux program just quit.

Huh? I have never seen this to be the case. For example, I used
to use the KDE CD burner KB3 on gnome. Because I use Mint, it just
automatically downloaded all of the additional software needed to
run it.

Wow. Ubuntu that you mentioned using comes with a host of different
desktops. Mint comes with a similar host of desktops. I wonder if
by "Bigger" he means the size of the initial install set? There
is no bigger distro in popularity and reach than Ubuntu.
