Well we had hard drive pull-out drawers, but when we had to go through some of the exercises of logging onto each other's or the teacher's computer, the class had to have someone from the networking department to turn off the security system to allow it with keys.
Don't ask me which way is easier on the tech department. I remember one student brought his own Linux laptop to the classes, he already ran his own Web servers at home and couldn't wait to transfer where they had more Linux classes.
Remember this is how Knoppix came about, wow we've come a long way...
