I'll assume you're using the Gnome interface, so you can usually add the drivers by going to System, Administration, and then Restricted drivers.
If it doesn't show up there, you should check the manufacturer's web site to see if there are Linux drivers available.
Regarding the command line, there are a few resources. One I usually recommend is Linux Coimmand (http://www.linuxcommand.org/) and The Linux Documentation Project (http://www.tldp.org/)

Just switched to ubuntu 10.10 and need help to install realtek audio drivers and possibly get ptt working for wspr. Also where does one find a list of all the commands as used in the terminal. IE. list files, folders, etc etc.
