[LINUX_Newbies] LibreOffice Base? was: Re: New here, with a question about databases

 

Thank you all for your answers. I'll check out LibreOffice Base; maybe it will be easier to use than OpenOffice. And I'll look into the links Joan provided. I'm starting to have second thoughts about MySQL; it sounds like it has too many pieces for me to keep track of. And if I have to use the terminal to install it I doubt I'll be able to get it to work. I've had a lot of trouble getting anything accomplished in terminal and would actually rather not use it at all.

I do have a couple of related questions. I keep hearing the term "GUI". What is that? And what is a fork?
