GUI is the acronymn for 'graphical user interface'.
You will tend to see it alot because many Linux programs
actually have several. Some of them are just different
Deveopers doing the same thing, but in some cases (especially
for such a flexible program like mysql) you will find different
GUIs which offer different functions. Or at least, that is my
very basic understanding of all that. you will also hear GUIs
ReferreD to as a 'front end'.
