Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Re: Ubuntu 12.04LTS Problem

One other point is the enter some network key or whatever you
mentioned.... you are talking about you have a Home Network and you need
to enter the pass phrase or called pass key etc which is simply the
password for any wireless 'puter such as a laptop/netbook or mobile
computer / smartphone to get connectivity ? You would have already set
that password which becomes your home network passphrase or called
network key etc - by accessing the Router control panel online at
something like http:// 192.12.111 or anything similar ? (Otherwise not
recommended to use defaults such as User: admin Pass: user, or similar,
out of the box).

Sometimes you may have to call in to the ISP (AOL, MSN, Earthlink etc)
and have them give you a few instructions to allow Linux onto their
service. I had to do that with a family member using isp RCN. Not common
but may apply. If this was not necessary before in your previous Ubuntu
versions it probably does not apply now with an upgrade. Should be good
to go then. Apparently with RCN anyway it is necessary. Possibly
antiquated security measures mis-recognizing any Linux 'puter hooked up
to the landline (ethernet) or home network as some rogue user or illegal
piggybacker on bandwidth and is rejected connection until the ISP allows
it from the account holder call in and instructions - which are a few
commands in the Linux Terminal and good to go.
