I have an idea! There is an application called WICD. I have used it for finding my a network:Its a network connection manager.

sudo apt-get install wicd or whatever the distro uses to install it.

I don't know yet what issues I'll have once I have
a successful download.
Do you mean like what Verizon offered before
they came out with the Jetpack that converts the
signal from Verizon and rebroadcasts it to the
wifi in the computer? That works quite well with
WindowsXP and with my MacBook Pro.
I don't have a LAN connection. If a wired LAN is
accessing the internet via a wired connection, it
could be more effective than what I have. Folks
at Verizon said that the best download results
require a wired connection. I really doubt that
my dialup would help LOL.
Interesting. I thought my netbook was pretty
much a mess.
