I have this issue in my Foxconn computers.I will pay close attention.Gene HenleySent: Friday, May 09, 2014 2:54 PMSubject: [LINUX_Newbies] Wifi woes!Hi All,
I have another issue with installing Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon on a Dell
laptop. The install was seamless and the OS all seems to work fine. My
problem is that there are no wireless networks shown nor any
connectivity available except the bluetooth and a wired network
connection. I go into the device drivers in the settings and attempt to
install the Broadcom "bcmwl-kernel-source" one and it appears to load
but reverts the selection back to the "Do not use this device" option
without loading it. The device in this computer is a Broadcom BCM43142
which I am trying to install.
Any suggetions on how I can wake up this device? It was working fine
before with Windows 7.
Thanks,
Mark

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot
survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable,
for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves
amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through
all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the
traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his
victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the
baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a
nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the
pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no
longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." ― Cicero
