RESPONSE: I haven't followed everything here as the bottom post thing confuses me, but if you can't download a new ISO image for a DVD/CD, why don't you purchase (for about $5.95) one of the more standard distros like Linux Mint from something like the following link? Yes, especially if you're running Gentoo. :) Seriously, 64 bit should
shorten compile time--I realize you say you're not concerned with that, but
it's still nice.
