No, I remember now why that swapfile was there. It seems that Linux systems insist that a swap facility be visible, else it will not boot. See http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/SlugOS/InstallandTurnupABasicSlugOSSystem.
So that is the simplest way to get one. Don't know why it has to be that size (maybe it has to be more that Real memory). It never get used, so you just arrange for it to be excluded from dumps.
