I must respectfully disagree. When people ask about distros, we
always seem to get a diatribe about Mint and Debian at the very
least from you. Users express why they like and use distros and
you jump in with a diatribe. It is not particularly helpful and
is sure getting to be tiring reading.

Again, the OP *ASKED* about other distros. Dude, please read and
comprehend.

Actually, I believe my statement was I use Mint because it just
works. The OP had stated they were looking for something that
just works. I actually like to think of Mint as Ubuntu with some
stupidity removed.

Here is a thought: If you don't have time to read the OP then please
stop the diatribes having little or nothing to do with the original
request. Get a decent mail application. There are plenty out there.
They might even allow you to trim your post and stop always the
lazy reply method of top posting MS Windows style. When you are
actually helping solve problems, your posts are generally very good.
When someone is asking about things like Distros, your posts are
generally worthless two page soap boxes.

I must stringently disagree. While Mint IS a replacement for
Ubuntu, to assume everyone who uses it for licensing is definitely
wrong. I use it because I like the interface better and because
when I do upgrades, I just want my distro to work on my main
work machine.

And if it was perfect there would be no Distros based on Ubuntu.
Some of the leadership as you call it is to some poor decisions.
The plethora of Ubuntu based distros shows there are many who
agree with me that "Ubuntu fixed" is a good idea.

If Mint is not in some way better than Ubuntu, then why has it
recently been a close second to Ubuntu on Distro-Watch? You don't
think Mint is better. We get that. Get over it. Many of us do
believe Mint is better. If Mint does not offer something better
than Ubuntu there would be no reason for Mint to exist. Everyone
should just go with Ubuntu. We are now into a matter of opinion
and you seem unable to recognize that. You don't think anything
about Mint is better. That is an opinion. I think that Mint is
better than Ubuntu. I am willing to admit that is an opinion and
apparently I am joined by literally thousands of people that want
their main machine to just work.

I notice you did not respond to this or even pay attention to this.
You misread the original post and continued distro-bashing which
is what you always do. I for one am tired of your distro-bashing
especially since you trot out the same thing every time.

My apologies to others for having to read this minor flame war. I
spent most of the time since the OP reading pages by Roy that I feel
were totally not helpful to the OP. When I posted simply that I use
Mint because it just works, Roy felt obligated to jump on that
for some reason.
