Thanks, it's a good idea. I did verify the ISO DVD. This Wifi problem, from a number of posts online, seems a recurring issue with Broadcom Wifi cards of the 2009-2012 or so era. Not all of them, just the ones like I have. Many solutions are offered, some of them work when the problem is recurring password authentication, but mine is never connected in the first place. Is it an ISP problem, a software mismatch ... who knows.
