It has worked ok. I created the boot drive from the ISO in the same way as i did the other copy and had no problems.I can't imagine why anyone would want to put defective copies on the web but my advice to others is to make every effort to make sure that the OS is a good one.My first impression of the OS is that it is much faster than windows at this moment.There was a means of checking the ISO file on line at www.linux.com by doing a checksum on it.Thanks to all that came back to me.
I have no problem with www.linux.com, but I generally prefer to get flavors of Linux as close to the source as possible. Mind you, Linux Mint was hacked for about 5 minutes a couple of years back; they made the mistake of using Wordpress (motto: "We don't just have back doors; we ARE a back door!"). But note that the hack was found because the distro didn't match the checksum.
