It will take more bandwidth to download a DVD than a CD and you can download
the codecs while installing with Ubuntu. That is not to suggest that you
should not try Mint or SuperOS, just that a DVD is not a better solution for
dial-up unless someone gives it to you. You are likely getting packages that
you do not need or want as well as the codecs.
