Hi Fred,

I am not worried about downloading large programs. I go to the local library and download what I need on a thumb drive.

Cannot use a DVD. The CD portion is working but not the DVD player.

I am thinking Linux Mint or Super OS may be a better idea.

Ubuntu doesn't come with mp3 and video codecs which you may have to download
and that may not be easy on a dial up connection. Linux Mint is derivative
of Ubuntu that comes with multimedia codecs. Super OS is another one but
it's comes on a DVD.
