I put that on a lowend computer for a friend of my wife's. She was happy
with it for awhile, but then ran some updates that broke something. It
also seemed to run very slowly. So, I changed it for Lubuntu, did the
setups of the Windows/OSX-ish stuff she needed, Netflix, and Skype, set up
Japanese for her, which, if I remember at the time, might have been a bit
tricky for her, and it's done well for her.
Pear was a nice interface for folks who liked OSX, it's a pity to hear that
it's dead. I see the web page from the distrowatch link doesn't load and
the last release seems to be almost a year old.
