Open Firefox or another browser, go to Google search page, type in Chrome web browser. You should have Linux and even Ubuntu auto-detected, I'm not sure if it will see it installed and see it as broken. If you need more help, try the Ubuntu forum. Maybe Synaptic could repair/remove Chrome...
