Hello everyone,
I am a newbie and love computers and really getting into Linux. I use to be a die hard MS windows man but over the years I began to get a bad taste in my mouth about how they operate. Linux is free, faster, and most importantly it's open sourse. I like how information is made available to everyone who is interested. Now my only problem is deciding which flavor to choose.
Right now I use ubuntu 9.10 w/gnome on my laptop and love it. But I find that ubuntu is not as fast as debian. But debian doesn't have things like actual firefox and thunderbird it does have the version of it though. Also it doesn't automate things like finding and mounting a external hard drive when connected.
This is my question: I am thinking about creating an private network or a beowolf system. Now I know nothing about either but I want to and will at some point put one together. Which Linux should I use or is best fit in general?
