I was about to say that Amazon has them for about 40.00 used...
This is just my opinion, but for what it's worth, I teach an Intro to
Linux course at the CC level, though it's officially called Unix/Linux
System Administration. Last semester I used a book based on Fedora,
but the year before, I used the Novell 3037 book (SuSE Linux
Enterprise Server Administration)
The book you're getting is NOT a Novell book, per se, it;s a Course
Technology book, and if its like the one I used to teach my class
with, it's fairly well written, though maybe not the BEST book I've
seen. And admittedly, the only thing I used from them was the
pre-made PP Slides. I never actually used the book, beyond figuring
out what to assign for homework.
AFAIK, that should be the current edition. Course Technology books
tend to be a few years behind current OS Versions... the book I used
for my Fedora based class last time around was still going on Fedora
Core 2!!
I know that's not really the answer you were looking for, but aside
from being able to get your hands on the one in the book store and
looking for sure, it may be difficult to find out.
Then I found this on Novell's site: "Are there courses available that
focus on the fundamental skills of administering SLES 10? If you would
like to investigate other courses that teach you the basics of using
SLES 10, check out Course 3068, Course 3070, and Course 3076 available
on the Novell OpenCourseWare site."
SO, if they are telling you they are using the 3060 book, then it IS
based on SLES 9 and that's the correct one. They use a different
course number for every new edition, apparently..
As for the PDF, download it... it's free. I can't say for sure that
that's the actual book, but if it is, then cool,if it's not, you've
got a nice secondary reference for the class that didn't cost you
anything.
Hope that helps...
Jeff who hopefully will be teaching this class again next month,
registration willing...
