Fortunately there is a distribution for just about every type of user. Many
people complain about all of the choice and that Linux could be much
stronger if all of developers were working on one distribution, but every
time I read about what is happening in the various distributions in the
Planets or on RSS feeds I get excited that Linux is so broad and offers so
much. Each distro is like a different world with lots happening that is not
obvious unless you are active in that community. I like that people are
doing what interests them instead of what they are being paid to do. While I
may criticise a distro or be frustrated by some of the decisions being made
on the whole Linux offers more than anything out there. People need to
sample lots of distros to find what works best for them and always keep an
open mind that there may be something new or better on the horizon.

We need to hear more about distros like Slackware and Arch so people know
what is available to them. People may start with something easy like Ubuntu
but some will opt for more control and want to learn about the nuts and
bolts of GNU and Linux and even BSD. Unfortunately users of little known
distros tend to be silent thinking others do not care or would not be
interested and we do not hear enough. :(
