I think that I narrowed down the problem. When I startup now I get "Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode"
press OK
"what would you like to do?
run ........one session
reconfig graphics
troubleshoot.
exit to console log-in"
Of the 4 options the first is the only one
that works.
press ok
normal log-in
I go to Display,config display settings
and get
Unknown (in a pink square)
refresh rate 0Hz (which can not be changed)
the Detect monitors bar does not nothing
It is not seeing the laptop lcd.
