Ever tried XCDRoast? I don't know if it is the best of anything but I've used it and it worked. All of that was before Linux's falling out with cdrecord though. Half of CD burning problems seem to stem from Wodim to me.

I like KDE's version of majohngg better than Gnome's. Kwrite I guess is OK too. Konquerer used to be nice, not so much anymore though ...
