Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Re: People say PCLinuxOS is more windows like in feel and look but not Ubuntu

Windows is evolving which is a good thing, but don't believe the spin of the
W7 commercials, that it was "my idea". Many W7 features are taken from Linux
and Mac OS/X and while they may be new to Windows users they are rather old
hat for users of other OSes. They came up with a few new things on their
own, too. They tried to get away from the problem that has plagued Windows
since its launch of having to be compatible with existing Windows platforms.
This enabled them to do many singles not previously available to them, but
as with many things they do it was only half done. Compromise never works
when it comes to innovation.

Mac has always led in innovation because they have a closed system. They can
do what they like because they make both the hardware and OS. They do not
have to worry about compatibility because they will just sell more computers
if a new OS does not work on older hardware. They stole a few ideas, but not
from their competitors. They do not want to be perceived by their loyal fans
as being second rate anything. This has been Jobs' modus operandi since
Lisa. That is why people wonder what will happen when he dies or steps down.
I am not a fan of his, but he has taken Apple to where it is.
