This is exactly what I have done since 2010.  I have Linux Mint LTS as the base OS then I have Win7 for MS

Office crap and WinXP for an Oracle application I have to use.  Everything else runs under Mint alone.  I don't

bring up Win7 or WinXP until I have to.
