Happy New Year,
I'm surprised Ubuntu wasn't smart enough to detect itself and ask if you wanted to re-do itself or do a fresh install? I wonder Is that only for some of the friendly Distros?
Don't feel bad if I had go to Win10, I'd probably make lots of oops, etc.

Problem solved. The last time I installed Ubuntu on my computer was back around ver 14. Part of the installation procedure was resizing partitions to provide a place for Ubuntu. Now, you must do all that before starting the installation. Ubuntu is now running fine. At almost 79, my brain isn't as sharp as it once was. Thanks for any help. Sorry for wasting your time.
73,
Gerald
