There are various ways to learn linux
I started by downloading videos from youtube. Opinions vary greatly on this subject, but most people find Ubuntu and Mint the easiest versions to learn.
When you pick a version a learn, make sure you can find a lot documentation, help forums, downloadable videos, etc to help you out learning that version. Also, if you choose to download videos about a version like Ubuntu, make sure the videos ares up to date. It would be very frustrating to download a 2009 version video for a recent version of Ubuntu.
good luck
Justin.

Subject: [LINUX_Newbies] Simple instruction
I have tried several times to learn to use linux. I am trying again. Is there some where that gives step by step instructions on how to learn linux. I mean like how to down load and install programs. I live in rural Tennessee, so I don't have access to classes. I am trying to read books on the subject, but it just confuses me. I am using a mint 16.01? Give me a direction to start! Thank you!
