What OS are you runing?
My Win 8 had a similar problem a few days ago. Windows offered to find the problem and I gave consent. Win did find and correct the problem but I don't remember the cryptic excuse that was fixed.

Been around every solution. My laptop connects to the network, but it won't connect to the internet. Keeps asking for authentication password, which I enter. Then it won't connect. My ISP Network Devices show no computers connected. Is there a way to grab a password off the ISP? I can't imagine the router password isn't the same as it's always been, grabbed from the bottom of the router. It always works under Vista.
