I finally went to free library support, he said it's a password problem because Wifi worked fine at the public hotspot, so contact ISP. ISP took 1.5 hours to walk me through setup, router password, WPA, SSID. Finally they reset the router and installed new password. Seems the original password had been changed by one of the ISP Tweaks at some point, so the password on the router was the wrong password. No wonder I couldn't logon.
Now it's really fast and browses far faster than Vista ever did. Only problem is suspend won't work. It blinks, and blinks again, then is fully awake. It never suspends. I disabled hibernate on recommendation of Linux helpsite, 10 things to do when installing Linux.

I mean "Try this, try that" is the solution. There isn't an exact solution for this issue since there are not enough details here. if you are entering your password make sure that the correct authentication method is also selected (WPA2 is popular but not ubiquitous). I mean there could be several problems that cause this. Try this try that is unfortunately the best anyone can really give you but I would check what authentication method the router uses first.

The installed Broadcom won't connect, so I got a 802.11n WLAN USB chip, and it does exactly the same thing. Won't connect with repeated Authentication Required messages. I enter the password of the router, and it still won't connect. Is there a setting on the Verizon site? What is the problem here? No real consensus online about it ... try this try that. Does anyone have a solution?
