[LINUX_Newbies] How to keep GIMP Menus Visible?

 

I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 and every
time I open GIMP I have to set the
two menu panels so they stay above the
center window, instead of disappearing
behind it.

Does anyone know how to set this to
be the default condition? I can't seem
to find that check-box.
