| I'm confused... I'm looking at all the posts so far, unless I've
| missed something, and I don't see any evidence of thread
| highjacking... Matthew opened a thread entitled "Looking for a good
| programming distro and that's what's being discussed. Did I miss
| something here?

He composed his message by replying to another message already present
on the mailing list. You can tell this because his headers include this
line:

In-Reply-To: <hkb2g2+sm36@eGroups.com>

which is the id of the other message. Threading mail readers will then
attach his message as part of that thread, even though he changed the
subject (to a good subject; we've all seen many useless ones:-)

Matthew, if you compose new threads this way, make sure you get rid of
the in-Reply-To: header (and/or the References: header if you're using
usenet/netgroups instead of a mailing list).

Loyal, I don't think J's tone was rude; haven't you overreacted a
little?

Cheers,

C'mon. Take the plunge. By the time you go through rehab the first time,
you'll be surrounded by the most interesting people, and if it takes years
off of your life, don't sweat it. They'll be the last ones anyway.
