Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Re: Ready to install Linux

Hey Loyal

In case you missed it.......

I am fairly new to LINUX. The things I wrote that did work, worked and the things that didn't, didn't. I don't see why you are busting my chops for my experiences. That is all that this was. Nothing was in stone. This was stuff I have come across and have worked, of did not work.

Thanks.

No need to post here again.

I Guess Linux_Newbies is for advanced Newbies not real newbies.

Thanks for clearing that up!!!!

Carl

Actually ANY Ubuntu or Debian program will work on Mint.

He meant you WILL have to download the codecs.

I sure don't know what you mean here. I can't remember the last
time I had a Linux program just quit.

Huh? I have never seen this to be the case. For example, I used
to use the KDE CD burner KB3 on gnome. Because I use Mint, it just
automatically downloaded all of the additional software needed to
run it.

Wow. Ubuntu that you mentioned using comes with a host of different
desktops. Mint comes with a similar host of desktops. I wonder if
by "Bigger" he means the size of the initial install set? There
is no bigger distro in popularity and reach than Ubuntu.

Carl, don't mean to slap you down, just want you to know that there
are some other things you need to try.
