There are always exceptions. For example, were you, that is to say,
you, Roy your own self, the Linux Canuck, to join the Linux@ group, we'd
make an exception. I've forgotten the reason it was difficult for you
to post inline, but the aim isn't to keep people from posting--and
sometimes, even Jeff top posts--when he's sending from a smart phone for
example.

This list doesn't really have any. It's just that, with a few
exceptions, the ones most able to help prefer that things be posted
inline. Bottom posting at the end of a long long post, without
trimming, is just as hard to follow.
Ideally, it should be
Point one (trimmed of extraneous material)
Answer to point one.
Point two (again trimmed)
Answer to point two.
My only point, when I got into this discussion is that, with very few
exceptions, it's the ones answering the question that request it, and
the ones who don't answer questions who then rail against it.
There are exceptions to everything of course, but even on more technical
lists, if someone is posting the code, the replier will usually trim it
to the part that turns out to be relevant and point out the problem.
As Loyal says in answer, in a later post, tech groups, bottom
post--though again, I would add that inline posting is always
preferable.

way to send my regards.
Spike: Why don't you rip her lungs out? That might make an
impression.
Angelus: Lacks... poetry.
Spike: Doesn't have to. What rhymes with lungs?
