Not a bad idea. Are you planning on staying in QA? If so, Java
certification might not be what you want. In the field of QA there
are other certifications that might be better.

That is OK. I was a physics major with only 2 Fortran courses to
my credit. The key is logical thinking not degree although a degree
always helps.

Object orientation you can pick up as you go, especially trying to
understand what other programmers do to accomplish tasks. The
background in C will help as much of what you know from C will
apply.

Absolutely it is possible. However, you must be self-motivated and
willing to put in the time to accomplish what you want.
