Here, I started your thread for you...

Now, go google "Setting up linux router" or something similar...

There are quite a few tutorials out there that should give you an idea
of what's involved, and how to do it.

You may also want to read this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_router_or_firewall_distributions

which lists some pre-build Linux based firewall/router distros.

That will be a LOT easier for you to set up and learn on that trying
to build one from scratch, if I'm correct in my assessment of your
linux skills... it's always easier to learn something if you have a
well founded starting point. Saves you a lot of headache and pain.
