Here is a decent way to find out "what came with them" for about any specific distro release:
1. Point your browser at distrowatch.com.
2. In the upper right corner there is a box that says "Type Distribution Name."  Enter the name of the distribution
here.  In this case enter "Linux Mint" or "linux mint" it does not care about capitals.
3. Scroll down the screen until you reach a table with the header "Package" which starts immediately after the "Feature Table." 
4. Across the top you have versions.
5. Down the left side of the table you will have software package names.
6. Find the version number for the two versions.

Now what that will give you is the version used when these distros were first installed.  Not a perfect method
since they could have been updated since the initial installation but still a good starting point.
