Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Firefox_ Configuring Address bar for "overtype'

All browsers require a home page or something to be open to start. It is usually the default of the operating system, or Mozilla's, but the point is that it is something and not blank. However you can configure it be anything or in this case nothing.. To do that you need to go to the settings, under Edit, Preferences and click on the General Tab. Then make sure that it is NOT set to open pages that were open when it was last used. Instead check the button for Home page and then type about:blank in the Home page box.

I have not tried this myself because I usually start up where I left off. If it does not work then you may have to go to open a new tab and type: about:config, then scroll down or search for: browser.newtab.url and then type about:blank. Be careful with this. The about:config can bork Firefox if you are not careful. Or so they say which is why I suggested the safer route first.

How do I configure firefox so that I can just locate the cursor in the address bar and start typing a URL in the address bar?
Right now i am having to manually delete what is there first.

Recently wiped XP from my netbook and installed UBUNTU.
Am finding it far more intuitive than expected, doing well considering I am pretty much an "appliance operator" when it comes to computers.
