I think you're right on with that comment. Now that I
have Linux Mint up and running on my old Gateway
netbook, I'm finding out lots about the shortcomings
of many WiFi hotspots!

Gateway does have a reputation, with some people,
for using the cheapest components that can be made
to work somehow. Since Mint throws up a popup to
announce the dropped link each time, my netbook
is now my sniffer to find worthwhile WiFi spots, LOL.

Maybe that is what those Linux Shops do, make sure the stuff is made for Linux when they build them.

I'm not sure. I do think it a poor policy to make and
sell poor products if you want to continue into the
future. Lots of outfits do ignore that, though.
