Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Firefox 29 updated now Xmarks isn't syncing

You mean it worked?  I would you mark the subject as "SOLVED" so people can see it in the future and maybe it will help them?

Thanks,
Loyal

Joan,
1. Please go to the xmarks web site.  Confirm that your links and folders are all there.
2. If they are all there or at least 99%, go to Xmarks on FF.  Otherwise, come back here and ask again.
3. Select "Xmarks Settings" tab
4. Select <Sign Out>
5. Select <Sign In>
6. It will pop up a new window for you to sign in.  Do so and select <OK>
7. Go back to Xmarks Settings in FF
8. Go to "Advanced" tab
9. Select <Download>.  This will replace all of your folders and links currently in local FF with the ones on the Xmarks website.
We are done, but I have two more steps you should do:
10. Make sure you don't save passwords in Xmarks or Firefox.  In fact, turn off the ability to do so.  Each one is easy to hack for your passwords
11. Check into Lastpass (add on for FF/Chrome etc) who bought Xmarks.  Lastpass is just about the best "as secure as possible" password memory manager.  Begin using Lastpass's generated passwords, the longer the better.  Plus as much as possible, use a new password for each site.

This really is a pain, after a hard drive died yesterday, I put back in the hard drive with Zorin 7 LXDE and updated. Now Xmarks, even after upgrading it, syncing fails. Their Forum says there is a 3 day back-log, even longer without my Premium status, because of Heartbleed...ugh, what haven't they told us? Oh, I couldn't make a Xmarks log file either, it said it had some unknown characters.
Plus, I had to make a new Xmarks password, now I'll have to change it on my Ubuntu 10.04 Gnome 2 computer, plus others...
Anyone else have problems with FF 29 and/or Xmarks?
