Re: [LINUX_Newbies] tar.gz,bz etc

If you are using GNOME (like Ubuntu) it is simpler if you have the Nautilus
action to open terminal installed. This is enabled by default in KDE (like
Kubuntu). Then you can untar by right clicking on the file in the file
manager and then move into the folder. Afterwards you open the terminal
window from the file manager. This saves typing paths.

Also, it is handy to know that you only have to type the first few letters
of the file and then press TAB. The termminal will complete the name. It is
case sensitive, so be careful to use the right case. Another handy thing is
to use cut and paste if you are following instructions. You can use the menu
to paste or you can use Shift+Ctrl+V.
