[LINUX_Newbies] Probably a dumb question

 

Just returned to internet. Off several months[severe illness in family]so need to pare expenses. This is older pc w/XP. Can I switch to Linux and also get online without dialup? Is there such a thing as free internet access using Linux? Thanks in advance for any advice. TTFN .....Old Tom aka papasmurf in NH
