If you could, in a terminal, just run the command
df -H
and post the result. I am pretty sure that you have the 8 GB SSD drive,
and that can be a problem. The reason is that the drive had very slow
write speed, meaning that if you install another distribution, it takes
a long time to make updates--for example, updating Fedora which might
generally take 10 minutes, would take over an hour.
Linpus is based on Fedora 8, if I remember correctly, which is quite old
(and unsupported) by now. Many of the netbook manufacturers would
provide a crippled version of Linux, which was hard to use for both
those used to Windows and those who use Linux.
I think your best choice is to (after we determine what sort of hard
drive you have) is to install something else. I actually returned my
Aspire One with Linpus, because it simply was a poor machine. I then got
the hard drive version (only about $40 more, and had much better
specifications)
You might poke around the Aspire One forums--when I had one, I found
them to be an excellent resource. I have a little page on the AA1.
