Re: [LINUX_Newbies] Firefox update ???

What can I say? Some people just like to do things the hard way. ;)

There are still many purists who like to get as close to the action as they
can and install from source code. Thankfully there are distros for such
people and you can even do it on Ubuntu if that is your thing.

I used Gentoo for a time, but found that it was too time consuming for me. I
need something that is lower maintenance, but others have the time and
inclination that I lack. It is a good learning experience and it gives you a
finely tuned system.

Where do you stand now? Do you prefer the pre-built convenience or the hands
on approach?

My comments were for newbies, who had best stick to the repositories until
they develop skills and confidence. From there the sky is the limit!
