Wow. These are very different things. Most of us Linux newbs run
a private network. That kind of system does not require any
particular flavor of Linux. On my private network, I have Windblows
machines, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and CentOS.

A Beowulf is a group of computers acting as one. The first of these
was created by NASA to help with the calculations required for
space travel. I only put this in because many (including me) will
not know the term Beowulf. This is a newbie group after all.

I got the idea of putting together a compute cluster (Beowulf) a
few months ago when I read an article on Rocks Clusters in the
Linux Journal. You can probably find that article on their site.
Anyway, Rocks is built on CentOS but has been reconfigured to make
creating a cluster simple and painless. You first set up the master,
then bring each slave on-line one at a time. It is incredibly easy.
Go to rocksclusters.org and read.
