Not to make myself sound old or anything... but there was at time when
I cringed at the thought of anything labled .deb or .rpm... tar.gz or
tar.bz2 was the only way to go... compiled binaries? Bah! I'll
compile my own.
But I found as time went on that I got lazy, and the idea of compiling
everything on my own became tedious and boring...
So now, I just compile when I need to and everything else I try to
find pre-compiled binaries to get what I want. It's faster, easier,
and less of a headache until you have to go dependency hunting ;-)
Cheers,
Jeff
