Help! I am trying to install Alice, which I need for a class, on Ubuntu. I have Alice on CD and downloaded to my desktop from the Internet, but I cannot get synaptic to recognize the program. I have never built from source before, and I need some advice. Any help would be appreciated.

Open a terminal to the directory where you downloaded the file.

Run the command: tar xvfz Alice-2.0.0.tar.gz then run: cd Alice/Required then run: ./run-aliceOthers can help with the other basics, like those above:Good luck,Joan in Reno
