I have to wonder if this is the same thing I ran into with both
Ubuntu and Mint Gnome. In both cases, it appeared not to boot into
Live CD but in reality it was a display issue. When I hooked up an
external monitor, the Live CD for both worked fine. Once I installed,
I was able to use a proprietary driver which allowed the systems to
work fine. Just a suggestion, but may be work a try with an external.
