You need to be a bit clearer on what you want. Do you need to share
files, simply allow authentication to resources, or what?
In simplest terms, one server to do whatever it's doing, and some form
of authentication. You can use ssh, NFS, or even NIS (though I haven't
seen that used in years) to allow the clients to access the server's
resources. You could even set up httpd on the server, and have the
clients access resources through a web browser if all it's doing is
sharing files.
The question is too vague.
If you're just sharing files off the server, all you need is ssh, which
is usually installed by default, and giving the clients access.

See above. LDAP is unnecessary. It is useful for many things,
including authentication, but depending upon the complexity of a
network, can often be overkill.

Buffy: It was exactly you, Will. Every detail. Except for your not
being a dominatrix... as far as we know.
Willow: Oh, right, me and Oz play Mistress of Pain every night.
Xander: Did anyone else just go to a scary visual place?
Buffy: Oh, yeah.
